A Canadian Mars Lander Mission

Thoth Technology is developing a Canadian lander mission, called Northern Light, to arrive on the surface of Mars in 2008. The lander will study the Martian environment. An atmospheric instrument will make detailed measurements of the Martian atmosphere, and a rover will explore the surface and subsurface.

Based on the heritage Beagle 2 design developed by Astrium UK, Northern Light will be equipped with a sophisticated payload, making the best use of Canadian scientific expertise. The Northern Light science team currently includes fifty scientists from twelve universities from across Canada.
